National French Week 2016

National French Week is upon us!  From Friday, November 4 through Thursday, November 10, we will celebrate French language and culture at MHS and Blake Middle School in a variety of ways.

At the high school, all French students will create posters which will be displayed throughout the school.  Each class will produce posters based on topics and vocabulary relevant to their curriculum.  French 2 is mastering la maison (house) and l'école (school) vocabulary.  French 3 will cover la géographie de France et Canada, la nourriture (food), les boissons (drinks) and les verbes.  French 4 will design posters for les vêtements (clothing), les animaux (animals), and les drapeaux (flags).  French 5/AP will craft posters about SAT words and French connections.

Members of French Club will also create posters for each of the National French Week themes, par exemple:

  • The Arts
  • Cuisine
  • Science, Technology and Careers
  • Community Events
  • Sports, Games and Traditions
  • Music and Dance
All students at the high school will enjoy the sounds of French musique all week long during passing time between periods, and each morning one student will recite the Pledge of Allegiance in French over the loudspeaker for all to hear.

At Blake, French students in Grades 7 and 8 will create posters to teach other students about flags of French-speaking countries, food, school supplies, and maps of France and Canada.  Additionally, a student will speak French during the morning announcements and will share the date, weather, and a daily fun French fact.

Merci beaucoup for your support as we come together to celebrate National French Week!
